Download Curious Fiend

Over the past few months following the 'official' release of Curious Fiend issue 1 the magazine has unfortunately taken somewhat of a back seat because of other projects, although the magazine has still been available over this time it was always our aim to make it available digitally as well.

The magazine has been reconfigured a bit to make it work more as an Ebook, you can download it from the link here or you can download it from the link on the right.

The print version of the magazine pack is still available from our shop as well as some posters so feel free to support us by buying one, you'll also get a nice big sticker pack along with the 6 zine pack.

The London Tattoo Convention

On Saturday made my way over to Pirates Quay in Wapping to check out the 2009 London Tattoo Convention, I knew it was going to be a busy day when I got into the Queue!...In the end it only actually took just over half an hour to get in and it was good weather anyway(as for some reason it always has been at any conventions I've been to) and they were giving out free Monster energy drinks on the way(do not buy them!)...

Once in(and after getting rid of the Monster filth!) went straight into the booths to start checking out who was on the bill...

A guy getting his face tattooed with traditional hand techniques, I think I could take or leave this really!...

Thomas Hooper(a Frith Street guest on occasion) from NY Adorned...

George Bone...

Some girls on a truck!...

The 'Graffiti Kings' painting and airbrushing some boards just near one of the bars...

Boog...

Here's a few shots of various tattooists working on their customers, there was some amazing work coming out on the day...

As always at the Convention there is plenty more than just the tattoo booths to check out, the gallery wasn't as busy when I got in there so it was a good chill out...

Some rad work on show too...

There was the obligatory Hells Angels section, with a shop and some amazing bikes and photography on show...

Phil Kyle & friends...

Emiliano Liberatori from Frith Street...

There was events going on throughout the weekend, I gave the awards and competitions a miss but would be rude not to check out the burlesque shows...Introducing Miss Luna...

Then to round things up down to Vince Ray's Rock and Roll bar...

For Vince Ray and the Boneshakers...

Roll on next year!...Also make sure to check out Swallows and Daggers blog and magazine, they were on sale at the convention and if you like tattoos or even if you don't go buy one, they're a bargain at £3 for a print version(so worth it) and £1 for a digital version...

We'll have some news about CF coming soon as well so watch this space...

Creative Review Graduates...

I've been slacking on the blog front here as there's been a ton of other projects with deadlines looming, among other things Phil at Typeface A Week has been good enough to post up the typefaces designed especially for CF, go there check it out show some love and download them for free!...

Anyway, last night headed out to Creative Review's graduate show which our friend Eilin Bergum was exhibiting at. The show was a good one, really varied work from strict graphic design work alongside oil painted illustration work by the talented Mark Boardman as well as a project called iBum where you sit on a seat which then scans your ass and prints it out for you, which was nice!...

Eilin's who also had work shown at the CF launch night showed more of her illustrative design work, including her Touch project which included a range of illustrative and typographic work printed in novel and interesting ways and inviting the reader to touch it!... Check more of her work here.

Managed to get a few photos in between drinks and if you get a chance get yourself down to the Downstairs Gallery at Mother agency in Shoreditch(the back of the Tea building) and check it out yourself.

Vhils at Lazarides gallery

Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils had his debut London show 'Scratching the Surface' at the new Rathbone Place Lazarides gallery and although it's now finished, (this post is massively belated) here are a few flicks for those of you who didn't get a chance to get down there...

If you ever get a chance to see his work in future make sure to do so as it's difficult to comprehend the quality of the work unless it's in the flesh...

Anyway, check out more of his work here.
